Village Watch

The Village Watch is part of the national Association of Neighbourhood Watches and is linked to South Wales Police through the Divisional police headquarters at Barry. The aims are:

To reduce the opportunities for crime.

To notify the police about any suspicious incidents in our neighbourhood

To use a telephone tree and co-ordinators to alert others in the village.

To build community spirit so that neighbours work together for the benefit of everybody.

We have co-ordinators for 33 out of 38 localities in Wenvoe and a family tree system of key co-ordinators for speedy communications. Co-ordinators pay particular attention to elderly people and people living alone. Co-ordinators meet at regular intervals to share information, meet the Community Police Officer, recommend action and plan future activities. A popular fund raiser is a quiz time held in our village pub.
