The Club, which was founded 10 years ago, now meets every Tuesday
evening at the Horse & Jockey at Twyn yr odyn.
As a small dual
gender club of 18 members, mainly from the village and the
surrounding area, we place a strong emphasis on fellowship.
The Club plays an active roll in village life generally
participating in social events. Our annual variety concert and our
line dance are particular favourites. We also help with the village
clean-up in readiness for the ‘Best Kept Village Competition’.
Our efforts spread beyond the village. Each year we arrange for a
party of children from Oakfield Primary School in Barry to visit
‘Techniquest’ and we have planted an oak tree at the school. Mary
Immaculate High School has been presented with a Rotary shield which
is awarded to the most deserving student of each year.
Thanks to the support and generosity of the villagers we raise a
significant amount of money for charity.
Local charities we have supported include Ty Hafan, Cancer
Research Wales, Breast Cancer Wales, the Noah’s Ark Appeal,
Meningitis Trust Wales and the Amelia Trust.
